Pros

Some of the the colluegues

Cons

-Very bad management in general -The so called “leads” have been in their positions for years, yet they lack real knowledge. There’s no point in asking them anything, they’ll always redirect you to others. Not because it’s someone else’s responsibility, but simply because they don’t care and lack any skill or info about the project. The most used catchphrase is "have you read the project's Confluence page?". -Another weird thing is that once a person is promoted to some kind of art "lead", their former artwork portfolios will vanish and it's something that happens everytime (that's in case you were lucky enough to have a lead with a portfolio.) One former lead didn't even bother to make his own screenshots, he just blatantly copy-pasted the images posted by one of the artist and used the exact same ones even though he had no real input in the final world maps. -The romanian studio has no saying in the final product. We were often told "we have to make it look pretty so that the french like it" or stuff like that.

Pros

The only advantage we used to highlight was the work-life balance. However, that perception has changed significantly due to poor management decisions. This includes not only decisions made at the executive level by Yves Guillemot but also problematic choices at the IT level by IT VP of Engineering

Cons

- Poor management decisions at multiple levels, including those made by CEO Yves Guillemot and IT-level decisions. - Increased work hours, with expectations of 10-11 hour workdays becoming common. - Bureaucratic processes hindering the "fun" work environment - Cliquish and juvenile workplace culture, with an influx of inexperienced staff as many skilled professionals have departed. - Below-market salaries, estimated at 15-30% less than competitors - Frequent project reassignments due to company-wide needs, incompetency from IT VP I strongly advise against taking a job at Ubisoft IT. It is a challenging work environment characterized by toxicity. Upper management, particularly the IT VP of Engineering, appears to take pride in the animosity directed towards him from employees. In short, I recommend seeking employment elsewhere.

Pros

The best part was the people, there was some extraordinary talent and I learnt a lot.

Cons

It's not immune from big company politics. Project managers generally wielded way too much power in the org however that seemed to improve while I was there. I had an interest in pivoting to a different specialty while there, and while they will say openly that they support this, I found the reality quite different.
