Pros

Unique opportunity for travel and knowledge growth.

Cons

Each Command (Submarine) is different depending on the chain of command, but many sailors experience similar issues such as: being overworked, not having their solutions to problems heard, scheduling conflicts, and an imbalance of standards. They also say that they care about the mental health of their sailors, however, the only time they voice those concerns is after a sailor has unfortunately committed suicide.

Pros

Pay is okay, not if you calculate per hour. Medical benefits. Can’t get fired.

Cons

You can become senior by just waiting, putting in time. This leads to many people in leadership roles who are not invested or good at the job they now supervise. You will be treated like a robot, or a tool. They will use you until you quit, break, or put in the time to become the one that uses people.
