Pros

Great benefits. A chance to travel. Money for college.

Cons

Away from family a lot. Does not pay the same as a civilian job would for more technical jobs.

Pros

Teaches responsibility, hard work, and how to adapt to challenging situations. Provides the tools to succeed within the organization and beyond.

Cons

Very demanding on family life. The line between officer and enlisted as defined by a four year degree is obsolete. Many enlisted acquire equal or greater education after joining yet receive no additional compensation with the exception of an inadequate commissioning program. Quality of life difference between officer and enlisted is synonymous with "lords and peasants" of the 13th century.
