Pros

This is a great job if you are looking for adventure and really want to make a difference. You will be put in some very challenging situations and will be entrusted with hundreds of millions of dollars of equipment and lots of leadership opportunities. You will get the opportunity to do what most people wish they could do, actually get rid of terrorists.

Cons

Long deployments that are very hard on family life. At home there is an excellent work/home balance. Even though you are a pilot/navigator, you also have a real office job that you must also learn and be good at.

Pros

Security, Job satisfaction, benefits, see the world, career broadening without losing benefits or changing employers, flying F-16s, leave, 20-year retirement.

Cons

Deployments, seeing idiots who get promoted and end up leading the Air Force, frequent moves, politics, No matter how high you get, you're always taking orders from somebody else, horrible performance rating and promotion system, even though you'd think the military would have more than its fair share, good leadership is scarce and and as many bad leaders get promoted as good ones.

Pros

The best part about working for the air force is being part of a team. This team is full of comradery. You will learn skills that are relevant on the outside world. You will also get a chance to further your educationa nd develop management skills at an early level.

Cons

Some leadership is inept and unable to do their job. You not only have to do your core job but you also have to do additional duties that will require almost 100% of your time but you won't have that time because training and fixing airplanes will take all of that time. You will learn to multitask or risk being reprimanded or even worse kicked out.
