Pros

- Outstanding, consistent professional development of officers - Leadership is competent and caring - 30 days leave can't be beat - Tuition assistant...now for dependents!

Cons

- Work hours should be mission-based, not just 12-15 hr days or til burn out - What happened to 3-4 month deployments? How many kids births/birthdays do we have to miss til we break &/or have our wives leave us? - Computer-based training is not real training...most just check the block as fast as they can - Checking the pulse of subordinates under the leader that you supervise should be mandatory. This keeps leaders/commanders in-check...i.e. there are some commanders in geographically separated units who spend most of their time trying to please their boss vs. taking c/o their troops - PT: give back accountabiltiy for fitness back to the individual Airman

Pros

Some of the best reasons working in the Air Force is great are the medical and dental benefits, life insurance, and tuition assistance, which is 100% by the way. Depending on where you work, you'll usually have your ups and downs just like any other job outside the military. There is usually good comaraderie amongst peers and colleagues. That also depends on how you present yourself to others within your workplace (just like on the outside).

Cons

Downsides of working in the Air Force, or even the military in general, are the times when you'll be ordered to work 12+ hours in a day during certain times, the pay doesn't seem to suit the amount and quality of work required of an individual to produce (though the benefits outweigh that con somewhat), and being deployed, though not all members have to deploy. One learns that through the tough times the unit's strength will rise some and give at least some increase of morale to get the job finished to be able to go home at the end of the day.

Pros

The air force is a good employer that treats employees fairly and with respect. I enjoy being part of this amazing organization.

Cons

It can be very bureaucratic which sometimes makes it difficult to make the changes that seem to be quite obvious. Also, the deployments get old.
