Pros

Good training provided, a lot of responsibility given. The company provides a lot of opportunities for socializing, team building and fitness. Good exposure to the global organisation of TOTAL. Flexibility to choose career path within the company and get varied experience. Excellent shares and pension scheme.

Cons

System for filing and retrieving information needs improvement, substandard in-house mentorship (no scheme currently available), limited room for promotion due to heirachical system

Pros

Genuinely good people; misery loves company but the company is good. Total is the perfect place if you're fresh out of school or if you've been put out to pasture and simply want to finish the 2-3 years before retirement in a stress free environment. Think Adult Retirement Daycare Center.

Cons

Incompetent management from the top down. There is a mass exodus of engineers, chemists, and operators leaving the company. The safety program is in shambles with the new shared services consolidation and it's only a matter of time before a catastrophic incident occurs. Poor communication and dismal morale. Chemists fresh out of school come in at a higher pay rate than tenured chemists. I don't know a single person here who isn't looking for another job at the moment, myself included.
