Pros

Great for developing skills useful if you're looking to move into the sales or staffing field afterwards. Very nice new office space and fun company events. The majority of people here are great to work with. Get the chance to gain a general understanding of a lot of industries that exist out there.

Cons

It's extremely unethical that the company is not transparent about the Analyst/Associate roles, leading recent grads to be misled that they're taking a step towards developing skills useful in their next finance/research/consulting job. This is strictly a recruiting role. Beneficial if you're looking to move into B2B or B2C sales or staffing afterwards but can actually be a major setback if you're looking to transition into actual consulting, investing or finance. Almost 100% of your day (and night) is spent recruiting, coldcalling, negotiating the lowest hourly rates and scheduling people on LinkedIn and Monster to speak with investors. Work-life balance is poor as you'll find yourself also chasing leads when you're home at night. Calls you set up with clients count as points and you need a certain number of points each month to get promoted and not fired. You don't even get to listen in on the calls, you just schedule them. You have no control over the clients you receive and if they're not looking at deals, you're done. The rapid turnover at this company is unlike anything I've ever seen. Team Leaders playing favorites is almost a given.

Pros

You do get to work with some great people, and most people are kind. If you are smart enough you can even get secondment opportunities

Cons

This is essentially a sales and recruiting job that takes the cons of both job and increases them on horrendous level. You will be working on projects for clients but they are not what you may expect. Basically how a "project" works is that your receive an email from a client with minimal background, with them basically saying that they want to speak a person who specializes in a specific area, whether they are an expert(really just someone who has been working in an industry for 5-10 years) who works at a customer, competitor, or supplier of a company that the clienty is looking to invest/buy/sell you are expected to deliver that expert to the client immediately. All you do is call and interview 10-20 experts and ask them 3-5 simple questions to see if you think they would be a good fit for the client. Then you email the client all of the supposed "good fits" and pray that they are selected. "Why would they not be selected?" you ask? the reason being is that you are competing with anywhere from 4-7 other expert networks at once that your client is also working with. If one of the other expert networks has there candidate delivered before you or chosen over you(which this all happens within 30 minutes or being sent the project) you maybe never hear back from your client because they dont actually care about your relationship, since they can get the exact same "expert network service" from any other network. Point being do not apply to a connections role, the only job that is worth it to apply to at this company is Forum and even then it could be years until you are actually doing legit equity research where you get to leave with hard skills to take to a real employer. This company at the end of the day is not worth it. You should just continue to look for other jobs and be unemployed a bit longer. Trust me the timelines you are on for this company are similar to sales and trading job without any actual hard skills, when you are working you are always working, and email comes and you may be on the 30 minute lunch break they give you and you are expected to go immediately back to you desk - no other industry is like this. There are almost no other transferable skills other than spamming people on linkedin and cold calling people all day.

Pros

A very big culture around events Nice office Good location

Cons

This role will have a very large negative effect on you. I am in the office until 9pm some days. There is no overtime. If you dont stay your team leader (who have no business or experience in being leaders) will consider you a slacker even if you have hit your quotas. More! more! more! Get more cold calls, get more experts, put in more time, do more everything. But no pay to reflect what they want from you. This is a sales role where you will do the same exact tasks every day for however long you stay here. Analysts and senior associates do the same exact thing. People get fired left and right. The skills are not transferable to anything you wanna do except maybe be a recruiter. It took them half a year to provide easy access to bathrooms. This place is a glorified call center and you are a scheduler between people who are actually making money and doing something. Feels good to right this after resigning and I've only been here 4 months.
