      Many fulfilling years developing & deploying urban rail transit solutions

      Pros

      Highly-skilled, technically motivated co-workers; multicultural environment; "green" focus in urban rail transit; strong performance management and professional development mechanisms; solid compensation package with scaled bonus for most; overall genuine attempt to communicate from Exec level especially in recent years. Very good benefits, especially drug card, DCPP matching. Generally not heavy-handed when enforcing HR policies (flexible where appropriate).

      Cons

      Location (401-404) > wicked commute for most (lost many good people when relocated; diminishes work-life balance for most of the rest); pervasive influence (sometimes interference) from France; formal performance management and professional development mechanisms are subject to being overlooked in the real world (e.g. in the context of promotion/progression); bonus program sometimes undermined by executive interference (i.e. often positive but unfortunately unpredictable bonus results year to year).

      Pros

      Great Products, great technology investment, great people, great travel opportunities, great canteen. The company has a good investment policy for new products, and when it does things right it is a fabulous company to work for.

      Cons

      Can be complicated. The wheels of industry turn slowly and Thales can prove it. Suffers from Export control paranoia....
