Pros

Pay and Bonus Rollover PTO Good Leadership Experience (to then move on from) Good Resume Builder Strong Internship Program

Cons

(Strictly for those in HR) - 50+ hours expected each week - you work every other weekend - you work all holidays - you work 10+ hour shifts and are expected to work mids (I.e,. 9-7, 10-8) - strong corporate political environment - you will be asked to run the truck in the back, pack online orders, unload freight onto shelves, hop on a register… etc. if you are looking for an actual HR professional role, this one is not for you. If you’re looking for a retail management role with a slight hint of HR, this would be perfect for you. (Especially if planning on moving up as a Store Director)

Pros

Target's culture is unbeatable. Hard work is rewarded, and leadership at every level invests in the success of it's people. The technology in stores is at or above industry average. Think: registers, devices for team members, fulfillment capabilities. Compensation is top of the industry at every level. Medical benefits aren't the best, but salary/bonus and compensation for your team make you feel like the company rewards the work required to be successful in retail.

Cons

Most of my cons revolve around the realities of the retail industry. Long hours, a lot of weekends and working in a business that thrives best around the holidays makes for a difficult work/life balance at times. There are some "down" times, around the spring and fall, but even then with remodels, the strength of your leadership team and other factors can still make carving out time with family difficult. For business partners or multi-unit leaders that don't have to engage in the "grind" of store leadership, this company and setup is fantastic. But for those in the brick and mortar every day, it can be a challenging and rigid setup. One last thing is that since there isn't a black and white system for attendance, leadership often has to "chase down" these situations to hold team members accountable. Our competitors have easy-to-understand systems in place to help with accountability in a busy environment.

Pros

Target HQ can be great IF you end up in a good team. You can end up in terrible teams with toxic culture and people who just have been in the company for way too long and don't know anything outside of Target. You will hear racist, agist, and sexist comments here and there because some people just don't know any better. Also the Minnesotan passive aggressiveness a very real thing. No one will be straight forward with you and people are fake. Target could really be a good work place but watch out for some team members or leaders.

Cons

The HR won't care about you. Diversity and Inclusion is a joke here. They say they try, but the leadership in the diversity and inclusion team is TERRIBLE. Even witnessed work place bullying. Especially do not recommend Target for young professionals. Lots of older employees who will bring you down and pick on you for your age and lack of experience.
