Pros

A good seasonal second job.

Cons

Management suck. When calling in sick, they say that I wasn't trying hard enough and this is from a person who never called in sick in two years. I was told by a prior employee that they want you to come in, go to the bathroom and throw up and then come back and work. Can you believe it? Its true.

Pros

I worked there throughout high school and college and it was a good job for that. Management is never that great, and they have to many managers in my opinion. The pay was good to start but raises are very terrible. Also, they let you transfer easily which is good for a college student.

Cons

Raises are not that great. Someone working there 5 years only makes a dollar more an hour than new hires. There is really no reason to perform at a high level because you get nothing in return. All the workers get paid the same yet many people don't work as hard as others. This results in some people doing double the work while others not really doing anything. Target has trouble getting good workers and lets poor performers linger too long.

Pros

You learn a lot about innovative, process-driven retail. Generally, it is a forward-looking company that is organized and well managed. It is a diverse company and you get to work with many different kinds of people.

Cons

There is a lot of work to do and work/life balance is not well-supported. The philosophy seems to be "faster, faster, faster" and this pace and intensity permeates the entire culture and all the job functions. It's effective and keeps the retailer at the forefront of innovation and customer service, but it wears on the employees and you can only work at this pace for so long.
