Pros

The people, by far... I had the pleasure, over the course of nearly two decades, of working alongside some of the most kind, compassionate, and intelligent people. I was fortunate to have many great leaders and colleagues who I learned so much from throughout my Sysco career.

Cons

Frequent company-wide reductions in headcounts in recent years. This has led to lots of anxieties and a significant decline in morale throughout the company. Teams that carry heavy loads continue to be stretched thin due to cuts and continuous introduction of new initiatives. The treatment and navigation post-layoff is very unfortunate and disheartening. Where I thought might consider applying for another role within the company, the treatment post-layoff has severed any such consideration. Colleagues are "encouraged" to explore opportunities within the company but few opportunities for growth will exist along their desired path, leaving many feeling "stuck." The shift in the company's culture over the past five to six years... We used to "bleed Sysco blue," but that has taken a sharp downturn due to the non-appreciation for the deep knowledge, expertise, and legacy held by loyal colleagues. Although, nothing is ever "owed," one can't help but recognize such a massive blow to the company's integrity over time. The underappreciation for, and mishandling of colleagues who have a wide breadth of capabilities. There was a time when rising tides raised all ships, but that has sadly turned into "what's best for me, at the expense of any and everyone below me." After so many years, I sincerely wish I didn't feel this way but I feel compelled to be as honest as I can about my experience. There was a time when Sysco felt like home, and the place I wanted to hang my hat when it was time to close the book on my career. Somewhere in recent years, the culture continued to shift away from something I felt as proud to be a part of as I once was. I can't speak for all but I know this is the sentiment of many...
