Pros

You do work, they give you money. It's a job. You get a free 6 inch sub for every shift and a free 12 inch sub for every shift over 8 hours.

Cons

-Almost no training. I was shown that I should cut bread at a 45 degree angle.Then they showed me where the piece of paper or "cheat sheet" was that said what each sandwich got on it, given one to take home, and that was it. -I was spoken to in a very aggressive and condescending tone constantly when I didn't know the things nobody trained me on. EX: on things I should have been trained on that were not on the cheat sheet: all chicken sandwiches are supposed to be hot, if the customer doesn't want the sub toasted then the meat should be microwaved with the cheese. -I was told there would be a 15 minute break for any shift 8 hours or more. I worked an 11 hour shift with no break, I only got a break on the days it was slow. Even then, it wasn't a 15 minute break, they just let us sit down for a minute. -While we are supposed to be allowed to eat a sub, the other employees advised me to wait until the manager left to eat. - There is no learning period like most place where it is expected you will be learning and building knowledge and speed. I was expected to not have to use the cheat sheet for sandwich build by my second day even with the about 20 sandwiches subway has. Was expected to be able to make a sandwich as quick as senior employees by my second day. Even though it only took me 2 minutes on average to make a sub (I timed myself, longest it ever took was 3, my best time was 1 minute and 20 something seconds), I was still rushed more and more, even when working at the ovens and the toaster. Ended up getting a nice, shiny purple burn on my arm because they want you to rush even while around the toaster and oven. Doesn't seem safe to rush while handling a knife, or around hot cooking devices, especially when they didn't even require non-slip shoes. -No constructive feed back. I asked how I was doing so far, the manager said "Just be better." I have been working a variety of restaurant jobs since I was 17 and have always been complimented on my quick learning and work ethic. There was no recognition of my improvements, and the feedback I was given on how to improve was often delivered in a very aggressive and condescending manager. - Unprofessional. EX: At the start of day 2, a customer asks for the oven roasted chicken, and not wanting to get it wrong as there is 3 different kinds of chicken and some of them go by multiple names, I double check by simply asking "this one right?" He rolls his eyes and says yes. Later that day, a customer asked for the chicken breast (same thing as the oven roasted chicken), but as it goes my multiple names, I just wanted to double check I had it right and again say "this one right?" He responds with "are you really asking me about that chicken breast again?" then walks away. The customers jaw literally dropped. There was even cursing in front of customers. Slamming things around in front of customers. Trash talking people while they are 10 feet away. I once heard the manager say to another employee "do you see the (curse) I have to put up with?" simply because the broom fell down after I put it up. -No information about how to report these management issues. No HR, the website just says to tell the franchise owner, with no information about who the franchise owner is. The store I worked at had tons of customer reviews naming my manager by name for his hostility and overall rudeness dating as far as 3 years back, yet somehow he still works there.

Pros

Healthier fast food in sandwiches.

Cons

Way too many hours over what was promised...open 24 hours. Working alone with a huge line-up. Overwhelming amount of work and expectations in a very-high tourist area.
