Pros

They sometimes give you free Pizza Hut or Moe’s.

Cons

They give you only 2-3% raises, so like 50 cents yearly. There is no upwards growth within the department, just lateral movement. They give you more work when you’re good at your job. People will be opening mail for years and making the same as someone who needs to process 200-400 invoices a day. Management likes to complain about all the work that’s backed up or out of service level, but they’re always in some unnecessary meeting and can’t help. They chose to promote an under qualified person to supervisor over other applicants with 3+ more years of AP experience and degrees under their belt, just cause AP management play favorites. The supervisors come up with all sorts of excuses as to why they can’t show up to work or leave early to avoid traffic, but won’t let employees leave 15 minutes early without a whole shake down. No diversity; all executive leadership are white men. All AP management is Hispanic, for a French based company.

Beware of Management

Pros

Free coffee and occasional free lunch from suppliers.

Cons

If you are going to join this company beware of the management. I was employed by Sonepar Ontario division for a short period of time, as was the person before me. The employment turnover rate for the purchasing/inventory team is very high at the Brampton head office. The culture is of a smaller company, however there is a lot of politics, gossip and emotional management. There is very little flexibility in the workplace. I did not have a positive experience and feel that the management will continue to suffer due to the micromanagement, inflexibility and bulling that takes place. If you bring issues to the managers/HR, it will not be resolved and you will be blacklisted.
