Pros

This is a great company to work for - training, development and challenging assignments are provided just as long as your performance keeps up. Most of all my line managers have been excellent - personable and very competent. Even with the unfortunate layoffs that are occurring right now due ot the low oil prices, I feel that Shell has treated employees with respect and have tried to be as transparent as possible.

Cons

As with any oil and gas company, when the price of oil dips, employees are at risk of layoffs (especially those supporting projects) and Shell is no exception. Sometimes there can be a lack of clarity around roles and responsibiltiies depending on which team you're on. Also, there are layers of management you have to go through to get decisions made, but I think Shell is trying to reduce this complexity and get more adept at making more fit for purpose and risk-based decisions.

Pros

Brand name due to which many were trapped including me which they will regret with in 3 months Heaven for lazy and non working people. Perfect company for people who know have zero knowledge but can talk talk and talk. Anybody who rejected in other companies due to lack of knowledge , people who are fired in other companies due to non performance but can talk are welcome with Red carpet

Cons

1) No value to your previous experience qualifications or knowledge, only criteria for selection is communication skills. 2)People with 5 yrs experience and 11 years experience is at same level and earning same salary. 3) HR team does not even what is the meaning of human resource/relations. They behave like God ,even CEO of company is more approachable than HR (The worst and dumbest HR team you can find among big corporates in India) . Their only job is to come time pass and go home. 4) Any college Pass out fresher can do the job as nature of job is very basic and no prior knowledge or experience is required to perform those kind of job . 5) Promotion is biggest joke and you have to wait for 4 yrs (that too based on role availability) and main criteria for promotion is not you work delivered but purely on number of contacts you made with in shell , so if you constantly hang out with senior leaders/whites and show fake smile they spot a future leader in you on expense of other talented people. 6) You will see many people who were fired from last company due to non performance being rock stars here 7) The only tech company in India which hire Developers based on their communication skills and not based on the ability to code . I have seen some no brain developers being hired but extremely talented developers not selected because they were poor in story telling ( can you believe that) 8) You just have to talk (even if you dont know ABCD of that subject also) then Americans/Europeans recognize you as leader

Pros

Good brand, Competitive salary, can't think anything else

Cons

Shell IT hub do not have any structure in hiring process. You can be hired at any job group/salary based on the position you have been interviewed. Within few weeks of joining you will find that half of your exp person is in same job group and may be same salary also. They don't care about your # yrs of exp, current designation, role etc. Most of the recruiters are contractors and they don't really care about your work or career. Management is also equally arrogant in ignoring people issues. In my 12 years of career with 2 MNC companies, have not seen such incompetent senior management but they are enjoying life as they fly business class, no accountability, just talking to impress NL bosses. The senior management people are hired through networking and they are only looking at their salary, survival and there is no employee focus. On the other hand you will find highly demotivated and disengaged employees on floor except few people who would have got wind fall deals in shell compared to their worth in the market. So the environment is very political and unstable as there is no structure in hiring, work assignment. designation/role etc etc. So please join at your own risk!!
