Pros

Personal development focus. Adaptable and growing company. Leadership works with you based on your will to develop your own career. Must be great at critical thinking and decision making. Great perks and great Support of managers in general.

Cons

Tenured managers not as valued as newly hired leadership. Sometimes feels said Corporate Leadership holds grudges and does not reward effort of Leadership at the store level enough.

Pros

Sephora is classic retail IT: reasonable hours, predictable responsibilities, top-heavy management, access to world-class technologies, systems and equipment. The 4 weeks of vacation, unlimited sick-time and bonus structure (half a year's pay in my case, when we have a good year) are fantastic.

Cons

Top-heavy management. Dysfunctional relationships between software development and product development, worsened by management style and insecurity. Obvious racial profiling in the IT group when hiring for management positions (It's what they call an "Indian shop"). Very few promotions in the overall IT group -- I think they figure the benefits and lifestyle are so good that promotions aren't necessary.

Pros

Gratis, bonuses, and making people feel beautiful. Playing with makeup all day. Seeing new products before their launched.

Cons

Clients can be needy, which is fine but some over do it. Feeling like pressure of making sales goals on a time limit. Not being able to spend more than 10-15 with one client makes it hard to understand what they need. Feeling like you run around all day and go to get a sip of water, to be yelled at for talking to a co-worker, even though they were just saying hi to each other. Never feeling good enough, when they promote people who are new. Having to be checked out every time you leave the building. To the point where I had to take my sweat shirt off for a male manager and was only wearing a small tank top. Very embarrassing.
