Pros

Fun atmosphere with easy work. As long as you remain positive you will get good feedback from management. Products are fun to play with and helping customers can be fun and lightheartedly challenging.

Cons

In retail there can be clicks and management isn't always open to dealing with them. I'm still trying to figure out if there are advancement opportunities. I know several of my supervisors were promoted from the store level and seem happy with their jobs, I just don't know what the likelyhood of this happening to me is. There are two cast members who are very friendly and helpful toward clients but are standoffish toward new staff. I'm a 30 something year old woman who's been in the workforce a looong time so their mind games don't bother me. Younger cast members might be intimidated however.

Not the Worst Ever

Pros

Working around all the different beauty products and brands was fun. Sometimes reps come in from the brands and teach you about new products. You can earn gratis (free products) and a lot of times reps bring gratis when they come.

Cons

Sephora is no worse than any other retail job I suppose. (I am not at all fond of retail.)You do a lot of ringing up customers and not enough making up customers. I didn't do as much makeup as I would like and I felt like just a cashier.

Pros

Cutting edge brands, knowledgable vendors, inspirational crew and abundant talent in the SF corporate office. Strong work ethic and high performance expectations by management at corporate

Cons

Low pay, tons of rules for the selling floor/ micromanaging, little accountability for Store Directors, store employees expected to also be LP when a store doesn't have budget for a "real" LP agent
