Sanofi Pasteur offers a great benefits package, 401k contributions (company matches up to 6%), and a nice salary with the opportunity for a lot of overtime.

Cons

Management and mid-level supervisors make sure that the employees are aware they don't trust them to get the job done by constantly checking up on each project. When employees know they're not trusted, they become experts at "presenteeism"—the physical appearance of working, without anything getting done. Management keeps their employees in the dark about important, possibly career-altering changes until the very last minute. Marketable top performers want a seat at the table and won't stand for being left in the dark without the information they need to do their jobs well. You will not advance in the company unless you know someone. Advancement isn't based on job performance, it's based on who you know in this company.

Pros

The benefits are great. Pension and 401k can't be beat. Good amount of vacation time.

Cons

Temps and contractors get many jobs full timers want. Can't escape manufacturing, once there, no hope of getting out. Manufacturing work environment is poor. Education means nothing here. I have a Master's degree and have answered to superiors with little or no post high school education and also many times less experience. Also the internal promotions are a joke compared to what they pay outside candidates.

Pros

Nice facility/workspaces. Many many really nice people, hardworking and competent, even in various management roles. Company is environmentally friendly and are very strict with respect to workplace sensitivity. Things like racism, sexism or harassment are not tolerated as far as I could see.

Cons

Lots of nice people, but a few terrible people in the wrong positions ruin it for everyone. Middle management in IT department are clueless but still insist on exerting total control. They bring micromanagement to a new level that I didn't know could exist. It's one thing when management knows what it is doing and makes everyone do things their way and have a track record of success. It's another when the IT manager demands that that things be done the wrong way over and over again. The whole IT department comes crashing down when the floor level manager allows more senior management to completely make everyone's lives miserable.
