Pros

Takes care of their people. A lot of their policies are towards advancement of your career. But don't think anyone is entitled to advancement. You have to work for it and you will be rewarded.

Cons

For those who do not want to relocate, it could possibly (but not always) hurt your chances for advancement. They also tend to acquire other companies and could cause a culture clash. This is a French company and most of the managers tend to be French.

Pros

Work is never without challenges. Most of the time, no two days are same. There is no "Office Timing" to follow strictly. Lot of responsibility is given to employees, and results expected. Minimum standard of performances are very high, creating Industry standards. Moves employees around the world, giving a vast knowledge, vision and outlook.

Cons

At times family seems to be adjusting to unconventional lifestyle, not 9-5 type. Change of countries can disturb children education / friend circle. Learning local language can be very challenging to the family, although official language remains same.

Pros

Career aspirations, people value and self development are the key strengths that you will build up when you work with SLB.

Cons

Overworked. Management don't understand technical details. It requires discipline and punctuality. The downside of working for schlumberger is that you are not sure of your job when there is a downturn in activity.
