Pros

The best group of folks I have ever had the pleasure of working with, and I've been doing the software gig for a long time. Everyone, from summer college interns to senior crew have insightful, relevant perspectives to offer to anyone willing to ask. I know that I can go to _anyone_ at Riot, President on down, with a question, off the wall idea, or concern and get a thoughtful non-bullcrap response from them. I cannot stress how awesome and valuable this is. Riot is fantastic at promoting personal growth. If you get hired in a position but decide you might be a better fit or happier elsewhere in the org, they go above and beyond to help you transition and succeed.

Cons

Not much to say here. Prior to Riot, I worked with firms where downtime or interruptions more than a couple seconds long would lead to Very Bad Things. Sometimes we identify player-impacting problems with straightforward solutions that take, in my opinion, too much time to implement.

Pros

Freedom to pursue projects that help players, even if they fall outside the scope of what would be considered your normal day-to-day duties. It's legitimately a company formed by gamers, consisting of gamers, for gamers. This shows through every aspect of Riot culture. If you're a gamer, you'll feel right at home. Benefits are great. Feedback is actually responded to. When we said 10 days of PTO wasn't enough, we got unlimited. When players let us know we're making a decision that isn't player focused, we respond and fix it. We don't always make the right choices initially, but we are quick to apologize and make it right.

Cons

If you're not a gamer, you'll probably feel very overwhelmed by most aspects of Riot culture. It's very fast paced, lots of young people, and while outliers do exist they're few and far between. We still struggle with our own growth. We often find parts of our infrastructure that are incapable of scaling with our headcount. This leads to processes and systems being built, then quickly needing to be revised/scrapped for new ones.
