Pros

Some of the smartest people I've ever worked with. It's nice you can just leave for the doctor or for a date whenever you want without needing to ask anyone. And best of all free food everywhere. Kombucha on tap!! Beer!! If you're on a good team, it's the best company in the world. When it's fun it's really really fun. Great parties.

Cons

Some of the most entitled people I've ever worked with and lots of people waste time playing games, but miss their deadlines. Terrible management in some teams, poor learning and development so those bosses never level up. Very low pay compared to the cost of living in Santa Monica. If you have college debt you're gonna be paycheck to paycheck. Everything depends on your team. God help you if you're stuck with one of the bad managers, you're career will be stonewalled forever. We reorg so often that I've known people who have had more managers than years they've been working here. We talk about accountability but few people are truly held accountable for anything from sexual harassment claims to product failures. Politics and backstabbing is getting depressingly high and people are leaving because managers let other people take credit for their direct report's work.

Pros

The people - fiercely passionate and mostly genuine. Although people complain about it, the comp and benefits package is ridiculous given the company's standing.

Cons

Processes are non-existent or broken in the name of non-conformity. Leaders aren't engaging with one another to build trust. Still a misnomer - Riot Game. The organization is attempting to find itself, perhaps 3 years too late.

Pros

The pay was better than average.

Cons

I have never had a worse work experience than I did at Riot Games. I was constantly degraded and condescended by a co-worker. When I finally had that employee go behind my back to tell another employee that I had a problem with them (which I did not) that caused them to confront me unnecessarily. I finally stepped up and told our manager my concerns which he then used as an opportunity to talk about my personality and how it was frustrating that I mentioned my family at work sometimes and that I made funny comments sometimes. He also stated I didn’t fit the Riot Games “culture.” I also had another employee ask me to do something that was not in my job description when I simply explained I didn’t feel I was competent enough to do it he called me a inappropriate word and stormed off. I love playing online and console games because I consider myself a nerd. In high school I was picked on for being a nerd. I felt comfort in gaming and assumed working for a game company that caters to “nerds” I would be safe to be myself. Instead I was constantly put down and harassed. HR never stepped up to help and I was taken to a back room and told that I should quit or they’d fire me. I felt like I was back in high school being picked on again working at Riot Games.
