      Smart researchers, great benefits, big question mark on evolving business strategy

      Pros

      Benefits are phenomenal, location is great. New product-centric business units run like up-beat startups with purpose. New CEO seems to have a good perspective on transitioning to a business services model.

      Cons

      Kind of a downer to work for a licensing company that makes money primarily by patent infringement lawsuits. Patent troll culture is kind of ingrained in the middle management. Cost-cutting inevitably creates a "get out while you can" environment until the transition to a new business model turns the corner.

      Pros

      Close knit team, compact team size, Chapel Hill team is excellent, Chapel Hill area is excellent, very good benefits package, engineering heavy organization, one of the best places for high speed signalling, analog and circuit designers.

      Cons

      Not a great place for ASIC/Digital/Logic folks, management has a lot to improve, not many engineers made money of their stock options/espp in a long long time, salary range may vary greatly among employees of same cadre.
