Pros
In the Advisory the partners truly seem to care about people, their compensation and advancement. The company's annual review process is fairly transparent and fair. Advisory salaries are highly competitive, and high performers get meaningful rewards for their accomplishments in the form of bonuses ranging from 10% to 25% of their base salaries. The company's retirement benefits are average to slightly above average: there is a 401(k) with a 1.5% company match, and an additional retirement account where the company contributes up to 6% of the base salary depending on the job level
Cons
Unpredictable schedules. Frequent need to work long hours and occasional time on weekends. Occasional need for significant amount of travel (depends on the project and client's location). While promotions from Associate to Senior Associate and to Manager are simple merit-based transparent decisions, getting from Manager to Director level in the Advisory is very hard.
