Pros

Pfizer has a strong learning environment for someone starting out in their career. If you find the right mentor, this could be an excellent opportunity to get ahead of the pack. They have excellent benefits all around.

Cons

I feel that biannual review process was not always the best - there tended to be a lot of "curve fitting" within an function/division rather than rating someone based on his/her accomplishments against goals and merits. With so many major M&As over the past decade (Warner-Lambert, Pharmacia, Wyeth, King), the company is still struggling to get all of the integration done.

Pros

My co-workers in the trenches are generally sincerely dedicated professionals who want to make a difference in the world and contribute to making medicines. Every day they look for ways to improve how things are done.

Cons

Senior management does not have a sustainable vision for the future of the company. They need to engage the scientists and support staff better, but they are not comitted to long-term successful R&D.

Pros

Pfizer is a large, global company with many opportunities to work and travel internationally. They continue to generate tons of cash which gives them flexibility and opportunities to buy other firms. They do offer very flexible work arrangements and you are expected to work from whereever you are are. It's not always necessary to come to the office.

Cons

Their sheer size makes it easy to get lost. The constant acquisitions followed by downsizing puts pressure on everyone to perform. Laying people off has become a core competency as people are layed off in waves.
