Pros

Pay, Benefits, Coworkers, Experience, & Reputability

Cons

Horrible work life balance. Speaking out or reducing hours will only met by career derailment. You're expected to work 50-60+ hours a week which is frequently reinforced by senior HR executives.

Pros

The only real pro for this job is that if you show up and do your job well you are pretty much left alone. I do like that I can listen to my headphones while working in stores. You get 2 weeks paid vacation at the start of the year even if you've only been there a short time.

Cons

Highly overworked. Pepsi seems to set routes for merchandisers and sales people that stretch them to the limits of what is possible for a human. There are many days I work 12-15 hours of hard physical labor. When asking for help it is rarely possible. Some days are only 5-8 hours but you'll need those to recover from the longer ones. Co-workers can be very hit or miss with more miss than hit. If someone doesn't work your stores properly in front of you it can lead to very long days if you are the type of person who does work right. They talk a lot about the opportunity for advancement but that seems to only apply for minorities. If you aren't a minority you will likely get passed up for promotions by less qualified minorities.

Pros

I'd like to start by saying that PepsiCo is a great company to learn a lot very quickly. The company is very fast paced and you will be given a lot of opportunity to demonstrate value early on. Additionally, most people who you interact with will generally be friendly (albeit drowning in work and very busy).

Cons

The work life balance can be very poor depending on team (and if anyone else has exited the organization recently). If there are unfilled roles, you can expect to be pulling the weight of not only your job but multiple other jobs at the same time. (This had happened to me when I did not have a direct manager and a few partners on the team also left the organization at the same time). Additionally, the organization has an "over alignment" culture which leads to hours of meetings, emails, and can slow initiatives progress. While it is great to have stakeholder feedback, there are some leaders that feel entitled to weigh in on anything and everything even if it is completely unrelated to their area.
