Pros

Commissions are un capped, Benefits are OK

Cons

Management is terrible. Manager had unrealistic prospecting expectations. He had no clear direction and would not help to assist in teaching anything useful besides tracking the amount of calls and appointments. Base salary is very low. Processes are overly complicated and training is very basic. They need to focus more on systems and process's instead of selling basics. Culture is not very good and toxic.

Pros

Sr. Director of Sales at Paychex is really a VP level job anywhere else. The span of control is extensive and challenging. The job itself is rewarding because it’s solely focused on top line revenue growth versus owning multiple parts of the business unit (marketing, sales strategy, HR, etc). The pay is also very STRONG!

Cons

You’re not in control of any decisions that impact your teams opportunity and processes to achieve the objective. You rely on centralized support functions for your unit to be successful. This is strictly a margin and cost measure and is very stressful. Also, the work life balance is very challenging and stressful. Unless you are the most resilient, unattached, no family, type of situation….you can expect to have to make many sacrifices to achieve company objectives.

Brutal Job

Pros

Allegedly could go anywhere in the company if you survive a year of telemarketing.

Cons

Overbearing managers watching your every move 40 hours a week chastising employees the moment they stop dialing. High levels of stress. Very poor compensation with this in mind. Most soul-sucking job I've ever worked. Might be worth it if you can make the mandatory year and go somewhere else.
