Pros

Good hot fresh food Break with free meal even though sometimes I don't get my breaks. Hours go by fast when it's busy. Good hourly pay rate

Cons

I don't know where to start. It was extremely easy to get into Panda Express (the manager was desperate since no one came to the open interviews and they were short on people). I was scared and excited on my first day since it was my first job. After the first day, I would rather lick a dirty foot than return. It's currently been 4 days since I've started working at Panda and I've never been so miserable in my life. It was only my first hour and this co worker expected me to already know the codes, saying that he has already told me. It was a busy night and I was constantly serving left and right and they kept criticizing me that I didn't write the codes down even though I was serving like a 7 member family at that time and haven't learned the code yet. The co workers don't have empathy for new employees. The manager and co workers continued to criticize me on every single thing. Some co workers would tell me to serve this much food and when I did, other co workers would tell me that I served too much or too little when I just followed what the other workers told me. Even when I was wiping down the tables, they would criticize me. I was told by this worker to wipe a certain way and then another worker told me a complete oposite way. Some workers are super cute nice and chill, always smiling and greeting me. but other workers think that they're superior just because they've been here longer, telling me to do this and that, giving me looks, and talking behind my back which I overheard. They chatted and joked around because they've been working together for a long time but didn't pay much attention to me. Whenever it was almost time to go on breaks, I would have to clean and sweep the lobby but others didn't have to before going on breaks. But I enjoyed cleaning because I didn't have to work beside those people. When my shift was almost over I had to stay after for a while because others already left their shift- the same shift I had. This other worker was speaking way quieter than I was (I was standing right next to her and I could barely hear her) and she didn't get called out on while I was told to raise my voice. This other co worker served more amount and way sloppier than I do and he doesn't get called out. Just because I'm new, they treat me like I'm stupid, always showing off their experiences and picking on everything I do. They expect me to do everything perfectly but some co workers don't turn the utensils upside down after serving and they don't clean up the area after serving. The schedule is always changing. I'm those people who'd like to know my schedules ahead of time so I could plan and do things and actually have a life. I can't stand this place any longer. I need to quit asap. I wanted a job mainly for experience but this was the worst experience ever. I actually have stomachaches and want to cry every time I have to go to work at this place, that's how much I hate it. I'll never ever go to Panda Express ever again after when I quit.

Pros

Pay, free food, nice co-workers, benefits.

Cons

Hours and poor management. Fake personalities, being forced to put on a smile and their new motto? "Work with intensity, work as if you're going to lose your job." Well, dang! Why don't I just put a gun to my head? As a manager, they told me to do what I'd like with my store, anything to make it better. Then the ACOs would come in and judge you for every little thing they didn't like. They bash on you for something like folding a towel correctly, is that seriously such a big deal? Bad management.

Pros

Pay, bonus, great benefits, and growth opportunities (if and only you fit in "Panda's culture"). Development others.

Cons

Absolutely ZERO work life balance. 50+ hours is normal. Sometimes even reaching 80 hours a week. Your quality of life would be in the toilet the moment you start working. Depending on which ACO/MUM/RDO, they have their favorites, and don't treat all of their managers equally. A lot of game playing and favoritism going around. Upper management cares a lot about "looking good", and they don't come across as genuine. Lack of appreciation.
