Pros

The training and skills you obtain during your time at Oracle are top notch. You get the chance to do the most technically advanced implementations of the particular Oracle product line you were hired for. Within Oracle consulting, you're also able to move around in your product family vertical (BI), and work on various systems (OBIEE, ODI, Hyperion).

Cons

The constant re-orgs make it tough to have a relationship with your manager. Also, many projects within consulting don't have the same collaborative feel as our partner consulting firms (Accenture, Deloitte, IBM).

Pros

Good work-life balance. Lots of vacation days, lots of floating holidays, and excellent benefits. Reasonable in granting flexibility in working hours. Working from home is usually not a problem. Food is available on-site and parking is plentiful. Peers are intelligent and respectful. So the day-to-day operational aspects of working there are pretty painless. Perform your job diligently and you'll be rewarded with job security and no intrusions on after hours life. Plenty of opportunities for training here to help you acquire new skills or improve the ones you have with supportive management that doesn't see it as stealing corporate time.

Cons

Too big a company. News from top management takes a long time to filter down to the rank-and-file. Large size also hinders basic operational procedures like procuring a computer or requesting reimbursements of business expenses. Most often, too difficult to gauge the impact one has on the company. And too often, business aims of groups are not aligned with each other, thus creating in-house competition and redundant work. Perhaps management does this deliberately, but probably just a result of division heads carving out their fiefdoms and doing their best to survive and succeed. As a result, whole teams can be redirected at entirely new tasks with all produced work going to waste.

Senior management is cooperative and helping, Flexible working hours and easy to balance work and family life. Compensations and benefits are well satisfactory. Variety of products to work on thus reducing monotonicity. Frequent team outings and employee development activities. brand value is high and thus provides good exposure in the IT market. Good on site opportunities.

Cons

Too huge a company thus tour individual work might not be exposed properly. Flat hierarchy thus promotions take long. HR department is too slow and the employee have to wait for long.
