Pros

the pay is good as compared to other silicon valley companies... at worst it is competitive. The company has good competition and tries to keep getting ahead in the game and develops new competitiors and such making the environment very challenging. The standards set by the company for employees is very high. So you get brilliant coworkers from whom you learn a lot.

Cons

The work life is not balanced. sometimes you have so much to do you that you end up spending nights and weekends at the office. At other times you have nothing to do at all and you might as well go home and sleep. The coworkers while being brilliant are nerds so there is no fun.

Pros

Lots of smart people to learn from. NVDA used to be notorious for its stringent recruiting and interview process. During the last depression 5 or 6 years ago there was a lot of unemployed engineers in the Bay Area and employers could afford to be picky. NVDA was taking the full advantage of that. These days unfortunately the bar is slipping lower. Still the bulk of the cadre hired in the last 6 years ( and that's 90% of the company ) is a very smart gang. To stay level with their colleagues, one has to actively work on maintaining high level of competence.

Cons

It can get pretty stressful at times.

Pros

Nvidia offers the opportunity to work with exceptionally intelligent and driven people while building amazing products. Opportunities for both technical growth and career advancement abound. Management works hard to retain their best engineers.

Cons

Like many technical companies, Nvidia often runs its projects on unrealistically aggressive schedules (leading to unreasonable demands on its employees.) On the issue of compensation, certain benefits are unfortunately lacking. For example, Nvidia offers no 401(k) matching.
