Pros

Good job security, a certain amount of freedom to choose work patterns and the ability to look after families over three generations means a high level of job satisfaction.

Cons

1. Government interference with everything you do, by people who have no understanding of the job and an intrinsic inability to consider the long term needs of people beyond the end of the parliament. 2. A plethora of targets, many of which are not evidence based, which change year on year to become more difficult to achieve, with about half your income dependent on them. 3. Falling income- mine has fallen every year since 2004 and by more than 30% over the last 10 years. 4. You must pay both your employee and employer NI contributions yourself. 5. A regular campaign of misinformation from the press denigrating the work that you do and 6. politicians deliberately misleading the public about what is achievable
