Pros

Microsoft in Sri Lanka is considered as one of the best places to work due to a number of reasons such as; part of the world's larget software company, growth in products, technology and business and in Sri Lanka, due to the caliber of people and the remuneration offered. For me personally, Microsoft Sri lanka is a great place to work because it gives me the ability to work with the best of the best businesses in Sri Lanka as they are my customers. Working at Microsoft helps me to be part of the success of my customers business and provide them the required technical support, advice and get deeper insight to their IT plans. Working at Microsoft Srilanaka makes me a proud person as the company is well recognized for the efforts taken in developing the IT education, reducing digital divide, helping customers to succeed and assisting the local software economy by supporting the ISVs

Cons

Every company has down sides but they may not be a very big deal most of the time if these down sides are not really affecting the performance or morale of a person. However, few down sides include the inability to execute a business activity fast enough to yeld the expected return. Getting too bod down in nitty griitty and not getting the show on the road on time. A lot of people give ideas and very few are available to implement the action items comming out of the accepted ideas. Managers easily get deviated from the plan and end up doing a lot of non-value adding activity. this translates to the subordinate levels to resulting in more planning work and less execution time

Pros

You are in control of your destiny. I have built my dream job at Microsoft. There are days that I find myself sitting at my desk and it is getting dark out because I lose track of time. I am challenged and feel like I am making a highly valuable contribution - something I never imageined could happen for one person in a very large company.

Cons

It is a big company. The first 3 months are the hardest, you have to learn a new job and a new working culture, once you get past that it is really easy. It is competitive, you are working with some of the smartest people in the industry and some days that can be hard...in other words you never go to work and rest on your laurels, we are very innovative - I sometimes wonder if I will run out of new ideas, which is silly because I have so many concepts to incubate that I will never run out of things to do or think.

Pros

Microsoft provides stable job environment with great health benefits. Its ideal place for folks with families since no copay health benefits work best for them. For single people it doesn't provide as much challenge as other startups can do. The folks that you work with here are very smart and experienced. Also, there are very diverse teams here so if you are bored with your product or team you can easily move to other areas like xbox, zune, search, office, windows etc

Cons

Microsoft has slow promotion rate partly because they depended heavily on stock price in past to make up for the compensation. It's heavy on mid-management.
