Pros

The amenities are nice for full-time employees, but it feels like a smoke-screen almost. I feel like we're being blinded into happiness with all these things being thrown at us to take advantage of. I'm starting to see through them and realize what they are truly for...to make you think you are happy and have the best job, and work for the best company ever, when you really don't...they got us by the balls here...

Cons

Laptop and phone each employee is given is not a perk, but a leash...you are always expected to be on them even when you are not at work trying to enjoy the life you are actually working for. Because they have issued you these items, there are no excuses.

In our 'move fast' and 'focus on impact' culture, we know it can be a challenge to find the right level of work/life integration. Please speak candidly with your Manager and HR Business Partner in order to share concerns and explore options. We hope you are able to spend time on the things that are most important to you.

Pros

Its an amazing company to work. Though the team is not. People will be given option to choose the team after they are hired. The Company shuttles are extremely helpful in working even while we commute.(No Fun) The IT Support is extremely quick and very helpful. The Food and rest are very yummy. Every day You might have to think what cuisine should I choose today. What ever you choose, It will just be there on campus.

Cons

I was into BizApps team at Facebook. Facebook is an amazing company to work but the team is not. All the above was only to an extent and the critical part which had really kept me under pressure was There were three people who were asked to develop three Modules. later they asked me to integrate the other Modules into mine. What others developed is just an initial version and UI, Javascript wasn`t following any standard. Later when I was integrating I had to rework everything from level 0. project manager, Manager, Team Lead, UI Expert were all supervising my work. When ever they pass by my desk, they would ask me to make few changes may it be to the Layouts, data to be displayed etc. the worst part is that their opinions do not match at all. for instance .. Project Manager would stop by my desk and asks me to change the layout and I obey and customize the layout to include that change. Later team lead would stop by and says "This is disgusting Layout. better change it. when I change it taking his suggestions. Manager would stop by and says its the worst that he has ever seen in his life and asks me to include his recommendations. Later UI expert comes and commands me not to follow instructions of any others and to just follow his recommendations as he is the UI expert. When I do that Others (Project Manager, Manager etc) hate the changes and I was evaluated low in performance. In the due course I was evaluated low in performance and I was blamed for missing the dead line. I did try to convey my situation to people but no action was taken.

Pros

They have some great ideas that are inspirational. There is never a stop to the ongoing activities and overwhelming number of events. Coworkers are peers of all ages and backgrounds which makes for a unique dynamic around the office

Cons

Biggest common issue over my 1 year here: They don't practice what they preach (ie. Culture and work/life balance opportunities). The management team looks down on everyone. No one can advance beyond an entry level position. You get an idea that gets bought or get stuck in an entry level type job for your "career" with barely above avg pay rates. I know that this is a competitive industry but sometimes the stupid people win just because they have the right connection. Bad employees stay while realistic workers realize the mistreatment and all leave within a year. I'm not making this up. Go look up Facebook's overall turnover ratio and tell me how that could lead to happy employees. Every SINGLE person on my initial project was lied to about their working hours (expect 9-5 and told 9-5 then made work overnight/graveyard shifts), benefits (only get to go on campus when with a supervisor), and team management. Too often we are told that our ideas will be considered then a manager gets promoted to a new project for spearheading such an idea.

Thank you for taking a moment to share your feedback. It's so important that everyone is open and honest when discussing work expectations. If you haven't already, please reach out to your HR business partner. No matter the scenario, employees and contractors alike should have a clear understanding of goals and expectations.
