      Upper management is the bad apple in the barrel

      Salary is decent Benefits are good My office environment is decent

      Cons

      Upper level management Not much opportunity to advance Company wide raise freeze after first year of employment. Raise freeze has been in effect for several years now. Horrible feedback from management and bad performance review policies. Management seems to think that unless you email them every time you sneeze then you don't exist as far as the company is concerned (slight exaggeration)

      - large organization with lots of resources to leverage specific expertise. - strong benefits and pension plan - salaries are competitive - strong communication within Canada and U.S. - name recognition in the brokerage industry - has some of the best and largest clients

      Cons

      - bonuses could be more transparent and competitive - have had some difficult years with respect to performance in the U.S. - political challenges with having a head office outside of Canada

      Pros

      Interesting work. You meet and see a large variety of businesses. The added value services of marsh risk consulting are unique to the insurance business and this is a great sales tool.

      Cons

      New York based business plans create a lot of paper work that is a waste of time. You are so busy logging your time and reporting to accountants that it is no wonder shares have dropped.
