Pros

The management team was incredibly supportive and the environment was very positive. There was a lot of room for self-expression and being able to take home samples was a nice perk.

Cons

Some customers are put off by the level of attention management encourages salesmen to provide. You have to get comfortable with that kind of social friction early on.

Pros

The products you're selling are genuinely awesome, especially if you are into cruelty-free, vegan/vegetarian cosmetics. Company vision, ethics of the production process, aesthetics of the shops are also really cool.

Cons

Specifically related to Estonia: some of the customs of the Lush shops clash with Estonian culture. We were encouraged to do the hands-on demonstrations to customers, but anyone familiar with Northern-Europe type cultures know that this is a definite no-no for us. People do not feel comfortable touching strangers or even siting down next to them and having a face to face, sustained eye contact conversation. Might sound a bit over exaggerated but most customers shopping in Estonian are already quite shy when a worker approaches them to offer help, so one-on-one hands-on demonstrations are too much. While people may be a bit shy if you approach them to offer help, if you are friendly and not pushy then it is totally okey and they do very often come up to you later with genuine interest in recommendation and a lot of repeat customers actually do come back because we are very knowledgeable about our products and are great at helping pick out something for yourself or others (especially men who have no clue what to gift their partners and daughters 😜). Any other problems related to this shop in Tallinn Estonia and classic retails problems that are most commonly related to impolite customers (they exist in every country) or management who makes the workers life...not enjoyable.
