Pros

The pay is good for a supermarket, £7.10/£7.50 starting then every year you are with the company your pay will go up say 40p per hour. Meet some amazing people that you work with and also so many different types of customers. 10% discount card for staff, every Christmas you get a goody box full of "chrismassy" items from the store.

Cons

Long hours e.g. 2-11pm, 8am-6pm meaning you can go ages without a break. Some managers believe that things should be done in an unrealistic time frame. Depending on who you know within the store will sometimes depend on whether you get shifts that are suited to you. Shift pattern can change without notice, even though it should be given. Unless you are firm with finishing times you could finish an hour after your finishing time. Can be called to work during your holidays to work a shift or early in the morning on your day off.

Pros

Pays above minimum wage and you can easily move up the ladder or progress in the company.

Cons

Never anyone in management around when you need to speak to them in your department, unsociable hours, overtime is not optional (according to them), long working week - (many days on the trot e.g not your average 5 day a week job. More like 8-10 days on then 2 days off and back to 8-10 days/nights on.) Never got a weekend off in 2 months so don't expect one and the pay slip (apparently) doesn't show your hourly rate, hours worked and what your being paid for on the 1st month, only a figure and other info you already know - pretty much useless, unacceptable and impossible to work out your earnings.
