- Poor management, who spend a lot of time talking, standing, hiding in the staff room and overall limited contribution to working in a 'team' (especially when its busy!).
- Poor treatment of staff (team members) by more senior members (shift managers/managers). This includes asking too much of the individual who already has a lot to do (possibly because they can't be bothered to do certain tasks themselves). Favouring staff who can get away with certain behaviour. Be-belittling team members in front of colleagues, by calling them names and trying to embarrass them. Not assisting in issues that occur, such as customer complains, because they don't like confrontation, so allow team members to deal with heated situations with customers single handedly.
- Rubbish pay for the amount of work expected of you. Minimum wage even if you work bank holidays ect.
- Slack training of new staff, as little guidance and help is provided, and takes weeks before they get you to complete the on-line training and signing.
- Long, un-flexible hours. Expected to work 49+ hours (mostly if you are full time). A lot of late shifts, and closes where you can't leave until 2pm+ in consecutive days, and no money is supplemented for transport home for these awkward hours. A lot of weekend shifts with no set rotas.
- Bitter responses and reaction from the managers for asking for time off, (if your going on holiday, pregnancy or your wedding ect).
- Little motivation of staff, who feel unappreciated and over-worked.
