Pros

Make lots of friends, Room for progression to supervisory roles if desired, Free meal on breaks, Some flexibility to fit around studying

Cons

Minimum wage, Unsociable hours (late nights and weekends), Sometimes the management can be unorganised (in my experience I have sometimes booked days off in the diary but not been given them off, also have had previous issues with things such as not being paid holiday pay as managers forgot to send correct holiday forms to head office) Favouritism within the workplace (colleages being able to pick and choose what shifts they want to work) Varied shift patterns and you never recieve your 'contracted hours' (I was on a 39 hour contract and only ever get this in busy periods such as school holidays, I usually get between 20-30 hours) No bonus schemes for team members or team leaders.... only manager and assistant manager

Pros

Great bonus scheme and great teams in most restaurants. Some autonomy when managing and development opportunities available

Cons

Poor training, unrealistic targets and massive pressure to deliver. Senior management forged my signature on official training documents and them tried to use them against me. Be very careful about your training file, and check that you have been trained and you sign it off. Best training company in uk? I really don't think so!!

Pros

Meet new people; get experience with working in stressful situations, experience with cash register, experience with customer service.

Cons

Some background on my experience with KFC: I worked part-time (my hours were anywhere from 15-25/week) there for 9 months, was 18 when I worked there. --"Training wage" (for my first three months of employment I was payed $7.85/hr, less than my state's legal minimum wage of $8.25/hr. Was not worth being paid below minimum wage just to "get work experience.") --Management tolerates sexual harassment (my store's general manager was creepy as hell around me. He physically invaded my privacy, gave unwarranted compliments, asked creepy questions ("What part of your body do you like the most?"). I said something to the other manager who then admitted that the creepy GM had been written up for sexual harassment multiple times in the past. He was never demoted or anything, just written up. To add to his creepiness, he (who was 30) had met his wife (who was 18 at the time) while she worked at KFC as a crew member. He flattered/bribed/rewarded her by giving her more hours than other crew members, which lasted until the other workers realized what was going on and reported it. I never filed a complaint out of worry over him seeking revenge or telling my future employers that I was a bad worker. He also had my personal information, cell number, etc.
