Pros

JnJ Medical Devices is full of opportunities and the level of openness is very high. The environment is great and the sense of sharing and team work is just fantastic. Senior management is respectful and looking forward to help you advance your career and manager work life balance. Training is taking really seriously and a lot of time and money is invested every year in training employees. Benefits are great and are well balanced against salary. The sense that JnJ makes products to help people and putting people first at all times makes you proud of working there all the time.

Cons

Because it is a huge company sometimes it takes for ever to decide and implement projects, the approval process is long, daunting and makes you question how effective it is.

Pros

Has a good brand name. Works at having a polished external image with the community.

Cons

Big bonuses for management which keep increasing every year while bonuses, salary, and benefits for employees keep decreasing every year. Same applies for severance packages. Regardless of how hard you work or how much you do, performance development feedback is negative with no career development in place. Managers are free to exercise their power on employees with no repercussions. It's a political organization. It is not about results but who you know. They run a Credo survey every year only for legal reasons to appear they are proactive, but employees don't believe in the Credo anymore. Workload keeps increasing every year and so do layoffs. Employee morale is low. J&J Management supported by Human Resources and Legal can beat down hard on employees. J&J is skilled at external communications and PR to set up staff as trouble makers. One wonders where the big ship is going when talent is treated in this fashion. They are outsourcing globally in a big way.

Pros

By working at Johnson & Johnson and doing your job well you help others live a healthier life whether that is through the products launched, services and education to patients and consumers or the work in the community. Johnson & Johnson is heavily managed by the Credo, a true value system that is employed in a number of decisions. I greatly admire the senior management team (they are personable, reflective, humble and considerate); however they lack building leaders skills and too much is based on subjective ideals, measures and too little (other than financial decisions) are objective.

Cons

Lack of advancement Leadership by consensus (too much)
