Pros

Good base salary Employee discount at high street stores.

Cons

No time given for maintenance. Employed as an engineer but utilised as an operator. Lack of training Lack of communication from management to lower levels (I had a new manager for nearly a year before he introduced himself in a meeting). Shift work premium is abysmal compared to counterpart engineer firms. Scrapped "one to ones" so the working people have no way of communicating issues and concerns to management. This company hugely value quantity over quality and will have managers asking people to break safety protocols if it means getting the job done 10 minutes faster. If you come from an engineering back and take pride in your work and want to make sure every job you do is done properly then avoid working for JLR.

Pros

They allow you to go home, unlike prison

Cons

No work life balance, if you hate your family, pets, house or free time, then work at the EMC Wolverhampton. You get to be in work for 8 hours to the second, with the threat of a 3 hour extension or a Saturday with just a couple of hours notice, with shift work it also makes you so fatigued to do anything with the little time you do get off. If your lucky enough to work in machining you get the added bonus of excessive noise, minimum 85db plus and a sickly choking vapour of atomised oil in the air. Management have yet to grasp the concept that there is a word called 'no' to the bosses above them, though they dish it out unsparingly when asking for favours like time off to look after a sick child or dying relative. Covid does not exist at JLR and if you are stupid enough to catch it, then you are disciplined for threatening the profits the company are desperate to make.
