Pros

Some really nice people, very nice buildings and a great canteen. Access to very nice cars and a great workshop. Remote working and work life balance is very good.

Cons

Senior executives wave their hand and declare a new product and expect it done over a reasonable amount of time. It then gets into the hands of middle and upper management, project managers, architects, product owners, committees and other people who love to talk, where it gets debated, changed, talked about and discussed and handed down to the engineers on the back of a notebook drawn in crayon. Or invisible ink. No software developers actually develop code here, you are expected to manage contractors who do the development. The "software developer" is just a conduit between the multitudes of project managers and their varying divinations of what they think the senior executives want. The only constant in this company is the utter incompetence of IT, the complete lack of funding for any hardware or software and the degrading mental health of the employees trying to figure out what exactly it is they should do. As expected, turnover is massive and employee retention is very difficult.

Pros

Great Canteen, lovely staff. Lot's of good parking, Lovely office - very modern Young workforce (A pro but also a con fresh blood but no deep knowledge) Site manager has a great vision and drive with frequent communication. Operations team are fantastic, great S&S club. Fantastic name for the CV You will learn lots about SW dev. Tech talks most thursdays are super interesting. The cars are beautiful.

Cons

This does not feel like an automotive company, they hired too many graduates and people from non automotive backgrounds with no real grasp on how the automotive industry actually is. Everyone is a software developer even if that is not their specialty, HR do not give job titles other than SW dev. If you are hired for a non SW role, you will be molded into it. They spend 3 torturous days planning for 12 weeks of work, then long sessions every 2 weeks to plan again. It is the most depressing and mind numbing sessions any engineer can imagine, planning for 12 weeks and scope changes everytime. Certain managers expect shirt and tie dress code. Whilst others can rock up in comfortable jeans and t-shirt, Certain managers are not suited nor fit for their role, and use bullyboy tactics to micromanage staff. Old fashioned expectations from certain managers again that you cannot work from home - HR have been poor to define a WFH policy (pre covid) The definition of diversity here is making women more important and snubbing men. Its terribly embarrassing as a woman who works here, and honestly feels like they employ women for just being women. The she++ is the most condescending group and a damage to the women who WANT to work in STEM.
