Pros

Competitive salary and benefits, company peaking growth, respected company to have on cv, growing brand. Good name to start career with.

Cons

The management style is poor and unprofessional. The graduate scheme itself is essentially not a scheme at all, you enter at the same level as a contractor but get given no additional training or benefits. DO NOT APPLY IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO OBTAIN CIPS. This was promised to a number of graduates but has not been delivered as graduates are given no preference. The company has grown very quickly and the processes have not kept up or don't exist which leaves the purchasing department as more of an administration role than a strategic one, where 90% of time is spent dealing with internal discussions. Whilst the company has ridden of the growth of rising economies up until now, it has no standard base for sales and it's growth is unsustainable. The working environment reflects it's rover days and it hasn't caught up with a professional and collaborative culture like most big companies. The business is very hierarchical and there is a culture of requiring to 'earn your stripes', where number of years is put ahead of intellect, ability and skill which has left an uninspiring, autocratic and grossly inefficient management team.

Pros

You get to work with some terrifically bright individuals who desperately want to succeed for the company and themselves.

Cons

There are too many timeservers, protecting their pensions, who don't want to work and don't want to help. They fill their calendars with meetings they haven't attended since 1999. These people you have to hunt down. Additionally, there's little middle management talent at JLR. Managers are too reticent to make decisions and are happy to pass the buck. Senior managers at JLR, LL4 and above, are extremely arrogant, especially if they've been with JLR through thick and thin. Newer external hires in leadership positions are a bit more grounded. Salaries and benefits aren't competitive in the auto industry until LL6 level.

Pros

Great team and a capable and driven manager. A good commonised programme delivery structure that everyone understands and buys into. Great benefits, car scheme at LL6 grade is fantastic. Excellent working environment. Parking and traffic much improved and really not a huge issue. Good equipment; many just got new lightweight laptops, most have iPhones. Common dell docking stations on every desk with dual monitors. Fantastic cars which are genuinely a privilege to be a part of.

Cons

Quite a few shirkers, so a lot of time wasted chasing. You know all who you are; you're the one who never logs into your phone, haven't added your mobile number to the company directory, never answers emails, never attends meetings and have set your diary to automatically refuse meetings. Hot desking is a dream as you're never in the same place twice. But I *will* find you. Over reliance on escalation to get things done. Departments still quite siloed; I recently facilitated a meeting between two people...who sit next to each other....! Over reliance on email to the detriment of productivity, and a diary with each hour 3 deep on meeting invites; takes a while to understand what's important and sometimes you get it wrong. Getting things done often difficult as processes not there/published/understood/changed so a lot of networking to find out how to proceed and often failing at the last hurdle because it's the wrong form/person/day of the month (really). Googlemail repugnant to an outlook user but can be configured to be a bit more normal with effort.
