Pros

HubSpot is one of the best companies I have worked for and it is amazing how many smart and inspiring people work here. Transparency is everything and you can really grow professionally if you want.

Cons

The biggest problem of this company is the first line management team, who is full of inexperienced people, who have been promoted because of their great performance as an individual contributor, but not necessarily for the ability and potential in managing people. Unfortunately these managers are not enabling the success of their team members, but they are mostly interested in showing upper management that they are as cool as managers as they were as individual contributors.

Thanks for your review. I agree on people being smart and inspiring, and also agree we haven't perfectly nailed front line management and first time management just yet. We are working on plays to ensure we propel management to further success long-term, so if you have any interest in sending me your thoughts on specific actionable solutions on this, would love to hear them. Thank you for your input, your review, and your pushes--as we scale, we'll need to continue iterating and getting better, and this type of feedback is incredibly helpful to help us get there. Sincerely, Katie

Pros

Really great product and a ton of leads. Culture is fun and it's an easy job.

Cons

Salespeople are not talented there and super over-confident. All the good ones have left and either started companies or gone onto sales leadership positions at growth stage startups. Territories have shrunk a lot, which is to be expected. The BDR program is a joke and I heard it is getting worse which is hard to believe. All in all cool place, but got really big really fast and individual contributors are no longer valued.

Thank you for being a HubSpot alum, and for the review--sorry to hear your frustrations with the BDR program, but I would push back on the fact that individual contributors aren't valued here--I think particularly on sales we have a lot of systems in place to reward their hard work. With that said, many of the things you said are things that we are continuing to iterate and work on--we'll keep at it, thanks for the thoughtful feedback to help us get better. Sincerely, Katie
