      Decent job, but it is very stressful.

      Pros

      Management compensation is very competitive. Benefits are excellent for management and 401k match is currently(2010) 75%. Lafarge is a global company, willing to relocate valuable personnel.

      Cons

      Mining is stressful and the current top-down business approach from France is strangling the life out of all workers, both salaried and hourly.

      Pros

      Things are constantly changing and being reorganized and so this gives you a chance to learn new things.

      Cons

      Going through reorganizations every 2 years or so is very tiring. While you do learn new things when your job or department is redesigned, you also lose a lot of time by having to "start over" constantly. Employees fear job loss due to the next reorganization and so moral is lower.

      Pros

      Competitive pay, managers pushed and rewarded for developing personnel professionally. Paternity time off for new fathers.

      Cons

      Much of the good base of the corporate culture is lost at a regional level. Regional VP's can make what would be a great company to work for into a hostile workplace. Not enough oversight from Lafarge corporate.
