I enjoyed my year with Hermès, but this job is not for impatient nor restless people
Pros
-You will get excellent at customer service, because you have so demanding customers. -Its high end so future employers and people in general will acknowledge it as a good past work experience. -The guy who works there full time, John, is a real keeper. Good with customers and good at the job! The manager on the other hand, is a bit dizzy -The poeple that work there are down to earth. -The stuff they sell is amazing. I was a very proud representative of the store for as long as I worked there.
Cons
-You have to clean all the shelves in the store everyday -the people cleaning the floors aren't allowed to touch the products so they cant clean the counter etc. -You have a LOT of pick and weird customers. -Not any training before you start in the job, so you have to teach yourself about the different product lines, as well as the production and history of the line, AND memorise prices for every little item in store (if you work in one of the smaller stores such as the one in Oslo you also need to know everything about everything across product lines (apparel, jewellery, perfume, purses, tableware etc etc.) -which is a lot (and without training..). -rarely get discounts. -A lot of time to kill between customers -Winter time it is freezing inside the store. Wear long johns! -None, or close to none, social gatherings with coworkers
