Pros

Challenging environment, intelligent competent people, best training in its class, great opportunities for career advancement and professional growth, great compensation, great on the resume for business school and other career opportunities. The 360 performance review process can be helpful, but you must stay aggressive about managing your career and where you want to go professionally in order to stand out amongst your peers and challenge yourself. There are also a lot of opportunities for advancement if you're great at networking. Otherwise, you can get stuck in a division or job role that you may not like.

Cons

politics, lack of communication b/w management and employees, sometimes ppl are too high strung

Pros

You are working with the smartest people that are very focus in doing a good job. Everyone is working together as a team to address the business needs. A lot of good working habits can be learned in the job. In the technology area, there is a big focus on working together with the business to come up with the right solution, and you will feel you are part of the team in the business unit.

Cons

As you will expect when joining Goldman Sachs, you will need to be very committed to work. People need to consider this is what they want and can do, in order to be successful in the company.

Pros

The best people in the business. If you look hard enough, you will find very good mentors who will help in your career growth. Being around reall good people, pushes you to perform and excel. I worked in GSAM (Goldman Sachs Asset Management) where the culture is a bit different than the rest of the firm. Nonetheless, the overal theme of teamwork is the same across the board.

Cons

Work and life balance is touted but never sufficiently encouraged. Politics and lack of transparency tends to shroud decision making. GSAM is particularly lacking in these respects. While the overall culture of the firm is the same, there are glaring deficiencies in GSAM.
