Account Manager in Vaccines

Pros

Higher base pay to compensate for capped bonus. Company car. Excellent health insurance. Strong vaccines portfolio and growing. Competitive contract offers for physicians clinics and health systems. Global impact of GSK Vaccines is huge. Here is where you see GSK's values shine.

Cons

Bureaucratic. GSK takes a now obsolete top down approach to leadership. Field reps are told their opinions matter and plenty of meetings focus on listening to field reps but things do not come to fruition in leadership's actions. Way too many conference calls and desk work. Because I want to do well in whatever setting I am in, this lead to working evenings/weekends regularly. Priority after priority... there are too many and they're ever changing. Bonuses are based on quality (subjective) rather than quantity. This can be good if you drink the GSK Kool-aid, but most find it frustrating. Logging calls is extremely cumbersome because of an outdated system. GSK has a way of overcomplicating things.

Pros

It's a good place to work as people are generally friendly and helpful.

Cons

Lack of career progression unless you're one of the "select few" or from Grad programmes or SuperStar employee. The company tends to look after their own first, creating roles for people to keep them rather than roles that are really required. It is one of the few MNCs that I have worked with that had more Directors than employees......many Directors that have the title but no direct reporting lines......it's waste of $$$$$
