Pros

The company has a good pay and benefits package with above average vacation and holidays. The position I am at allows a lot of learning opportunities. Currently, there are attempts to streamline the office setting (ie. meetings) and production oriented.

Cons

The company is large and getting anything completed quickly is very tedious. Each employee is expected to complete multiple tasks (2-3 jobs on average). I guess this is the trend in the industry today. Some of the senior management at the site could improve on their leadership skills and focus on supporting their employees more. Some focus is lost on producing product efficiently due to all of the politics.

Pros

Branching into a number of different areas of research at the moment with some opportunities being created here. Pay and benefits comparable to others within the sector. The pipeline and product replacement is probably the best in the industry right now and GSK will probably be the largest pharma within a few years. Expansion across the globe means opportunity overseas could be available.

Cons

The company continually changes its targets (which is in itself good) but never allows enough time for them to be met. Shareholders mean everything to GSK now and staff are just an unavoidable expense. If you want to work for GSK, ensure as good a pay deal and as high a grade as humanely possible because your chances of progress within this organisation are very limited. They would rather buy in skills than develp staff. There is a huge amount of 'restructuring' at this company which will likely continue for the foreseeable future, making staff morale quite low.

Pros

There is great value in accurately representing the benefits and limitations of pharmaceutical products. Physicians and patients need solutions to treat ailments and we meet that need. The benefits of a free car, free insurance, free gas,and good benefits is invaluable. The freedom from daily scrutiny by management is very valuable.

Cons

Glaxo uses its sales force as puppets. They have a tendency to stick their heads in the sand and repeat the same mistakes over and over again. The management is driving their best talent out the door. The company takes for granted the work that is required to be successful and does not fairly compensate for overtime. There is an overwhelming amount of stress associated with this company.
