Pros

The sales training is top notch and ongoing. Personally, I have met a ton of great people over the years. Your experience will greatly depend on your manager. Excellent benefits. Specialty divisions embrace a more entrepreneurial culture.

Cons

At times, goals are extremely unrealistic and no one can hit them. During this current climate, much like other pharmaceutical companies, there is a lot of change to key areas such as incentive compensation and recognition. These changes seem to keep happening so you never really know how you're being measured. The pharmaceutical division is much more micromanaged.

Pros

GSK has competitive wages and compensation. They Strive to be professional in their dealings with personnel and the public. Their products are usually of high quality and offer unique advantages to patients.

Cons

GSK has become so large that they now place legal liability as their driving concern. Sales plans are now so restricted and ultra conservative that they seem written directly by the legal department. If you have to ask whether you can do something the answer in inevitably, "no, let's just be safe". Sales goals and compensation plans are also so one-size-fits-all that they can not adequately compensate for huge differences in marketplace demographics and trends. Better hope you work in a growing city in the south, especially Florida, if you want consistent bonus opportunities.
