      Pros

      Big company - has money to get things done if they choose to Very good technical career path (goes VERY high) and good communications around world within this - there's always someone you can talk to about technical problems. Good local management (GE Druck, Groby, Leicester, UK) Interesting technology, very good engineering expertise here

      Cons

      American corporate culture sometimes very hard to put up with as a Brit - way too much bulls**t Executive management often only in jobs while bouncing up the ladder - means they don't get to clean up the mess of their decisions if they are only in role for 18 months

      High Tech Experience... stay far, far away

      Great Marketing Vision... that's about it

      I was recruited out of a very well known, large high tech company to help launch a new business unit @ Current by GE. The existing sales leadership has zero experience in high tech. Recruiters and executives made promises - written promises in offer letters - that they outright failed to deliver on. Bonus program - which was a 30% total comp split - did not exist. Within 8 months - 75% of new team was riffed and reorganized under single tech leader. Complete mess.

      Pros

      Pay is "decent" , 3% automatic contributions for 401k from company, also % match of your contribution

      Cons

      No support from upper management for "change" but constantly put down and scrutinized for no "changing" culture. Lots of "behind the scenes" actions that are kept from key players and borderline immoral Management is guinea pigs for cuts before rolled out to union The list goes on.....
