Pros

Decent pay, great shipping discount, many locations worldwide, opportunity to learn a great deal about printing, computers and shipping.

Cons

Systematically they have removed all the old Kinko's upper management. Way too focused on immediate profit rather than growing the customer base. Stores are understaffed and employees are overworked. All of the creativity and innovation has been quashed and replaced with corporate mandates.

Pros

What drew me into wanting to work at Fed Ex was the flexability and the fact that there is Fed Ex everywhere and that if I would ever have to move to a different area I would have a good chance of keeping my job.  There is also the fact that Fed Ex almost never closes down, so there's shifts all around the clock that a person could potentially switch to if need be.  I also enjoy that within each shift there are pleanty of different areas to work in, so if the job that you are origionally given isn't a good fit, there are pleanty more to switch to.  The pay at my location is also pretty high compared to other jobs in the area.  Depending on what shift you work,  there is opportunity to not have to work weekends.  The benefits are awsome too.

Cons

The job can be very fast paced and seem almost impossible at times.  There is also the potential of being stuck under a really stupid supervisor.  Promotions are rarely from within, and I hear,  to get promoted, you have to be willing to relocate, thus why we get supervisors that don't know what is going on and can come off as intrusive to the employees that have successfully done their jobs for a long time.  The main thing that I find most obnoctious about Fed Ex is the fact that we're not alowed to wear jewelry or even a sports watch.  They complain about people being late, but how can I know what time it is if I can't wear my watch?  The managers don't really care about the jewelry rule, but the security guards will take anything that accidently gets worn or carried in and hold it for a week to make sure it hasn't been stolen from a package.  I have learned great ways to steal things from sneaking out jewelry and cell phones that I had accidently wore in the building.

Pros

FedEx's current CEO is the original founder of the company with great dreams. This is good because the company has not lost track any time and has been very successful. The management has shown integrity and effectiveness in the past 35 years of history and is one of the virtual duopolies in the US. In the current economic turmoil FedEx has shown tremendous strength and resorted to salary cuts and downsizing in a seemingly fair, controlled and minimal way. The company provides good opportunities for advancement and compensation and advancement are generally performance based. I have not heard of any discrimination based on race, sexual orientation etc. in this company. In short FedEx is a reliable company with good growth opportunities.

Cons

There is some red-tape and it is probably because of the size of the company. The company is conservative and hence chances for innovation are not too many.
