Plenty of pros, but plenty of cons too
Pros
-Exposure to work in a variety of sectors. -WFH or hybrid, hours flexible. No requirement to work weekends or unsociable hours. -Supports employee professional development. -Membership fees to industry recognised bodies paid for. -Industry-relevant exams fees covered. -Team members are friendly and supportive.
Cons
-Work is less engineering, more accurately fits the description of consultancy. -Although ongoing development is encouraged, there is no formal training/mentoring scheme, Lots of learning on the job through trial and error. -Quite often felt out of depth with tasks assigned with lack of direction. -Lack of emphasis on team cohesion. -Internal/background work that is not directly billable to a customer is not valued by upper management.
